Tasting - Maipe Malbec

Name: Maipe Malbec
Variety: 100% Malbec
Region: Mendoza
Country: Argentina
Year: 2012
Price: $8.95
Winery Review:

"Deep purple color with violet tints, complex plum, fig, strawberry, spices and floral aromas; rounded and velvety tannins, excellent length with a distinguished character. Excellent when paired with game, roasted red meats, pasta or pizza."

My Review: Aromas of blackberry and plum on the nose.  On the taste, notes of plum, blackberry, and strong hints of red current come through.  The wine has a good body with a smooth, somewhat thick texture that delivers a good tannin structure toward the finish.  No hint of oak or wood at all.  Overall, not a bad Malbec wine.  I did not try this wine with food.
